Village Community Assistance Service

Since 1991 the small villages, with populations of under 600, have had a civic service, called the “Village Community Assistance” scheme all over Hungary. The aim of this service is to ease people’s disadvantaged situations in these small communities in many practical ways such as

* providing meals on wheels

* taking the elderly to the surgery

* collecting medicines from the pharmacy and distributing them to people

Between 1997 – 29^th February 2012 this civic service operated in Bodrog as part of the Refuge Foundation supported by the state. Since 1^st March 2012 it is run and financially supported by the church.
